I found another great pairing for my Grilled Caesar Salad!
When tasting wines, I try to find wines that will pair well with food. I figured that a Chardonnay might pair with the Grilled Caesar Salad. Some chardonnays I have tried did not stand up well to the acidity and unctuousness of the Caesar dressing. This True Myth Ryder Cup Limited Edition certainly was weighty enough to pair!
A nice departure from a typical California Chardonnay, the True Myth Ryder Cup Limited Edition has a touch of Grenache Blanc and Viognier. Grenache Blanc adds body with stone fruit and baked apple aromas. Viognier also add body but yields highly aromatic, pretty, floral notes. The make up of this wine has only 7% viognier and 5% grenache blanc, but the amounts go a long way in terms of body and flavor!
Chardonnay grows well in the Central Coast of California, and this wine is from San Luis Obispo County. Rhone varieties grow especially well in the Central Coast. Rhone varieties are grapes that have traditionally been grown in the Rhone Valley of France, such as Grenache Blanc and Viognier. A little bit of new oak & lees aging gives this wine some toasty, creamy notes.
In the glass, the wine is a pretty, bright yellow. Orange, pineapple, orange blossom, vanilla, and toasty bread waft from the glass and follow through to the palate. The weight is noticeable in the mouth but is balanced nicely with a refreshing acidity.
